Top 10 most visited Philippine websites

Alexa Ranking is considered an excellent tool to measure how popular a website is. The ranking is based on how often a website is visited using a toolbar installed in the user’s browser. This toolbar sends data to its servers where these data are stored and analyzed. Although not all browsers have this toolbar, the distribution is so widespread that all demographics of users are represented – making this ranking widely accepted.

Here is a list of the ten most visited Philippine websites based on Alexa Ranking compiled on December 4, 2011 . These websites are limited to those owned by Filipinos.

1. Sulit.com.ph
Philippine Rank: #9 Global Rank: #1708
Sulit.com.ph is a marketplace offering classified ads where Filipinos can sell products and services. Enrollment to the service is free but they also offer premium listing for a small fee. It is the only Filipino website in the top 10.

2. Inquirer.net
Philippine Rank: #17 Global Rank: #3,797
The official website of the Philippine Daily Inquirer offers a 24/7 comprehensive and up to the minute coverage of local and international news.

3. ABS-CBNnews.com
Philippine Rank: #24 Global Rank: #5,069
ABS-CBN News is another news Website providing local and international news. It is owned by ABS-CBN.

4. unionbankph.com
Philippine Rank: #31 Global Rank: #11,080
The most visited bank in the Philippines according to Alexa, Unionbankph.com is a partnership among the Aboitiz Group, Insular Life and Social Security System.

5. cebupacificair.com

Cebu Pacific is an airline company in the Philippines also offering international flights to some countries mostly located in the South East Asian region.

Another Buy and Sell offering website in the Top 10, AyosDito.ph describes themselves as a Filipino website for Pinoys to buy and sell Online.

So there you go: the top ten Philippine websites as seen on Alexa.com. You may disagree with the ranking since some sites for Filipinos (like jobstreet.com.ph or ensogo.com.ph) were left out of the ranking. These websites although offering services to Filipinos were left out for the reason that they are foreign owned.

It is noteworthy to point out that of the top ten, there are 4 news websites; 2 classified ads based websites; 2 offering online banking; 1 airline company and 1 is showbizz based.

  1. I think Alexa isn’t the best website ranking tool. You see, the number 1 bank in the Philippines is Metrobank, but the number 1 bank in the list is Unionbank. I just don’t think this is right. Sorry…
